Another earthquake brought terror to Asia. A strong quake measuring 6.6 struck the eastern coast of Japan on Sunday, rocking buildings in the nation’s capital and also in Honshu and northern Hokkaido islands.

Fortunately, reports only told of light damages to structures near the epicenter. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the quake hit at 5:08 p.m. and was felt most strongly in central Fukushima prefecture which is about 130 miles (210 kilometers) northeast of Tokyo.

Ken Yoshida, a town official in Naraha, one of the hardest-hit areas, said, “It was fairly strong, but didn’t knock over anything in the office.”

The meteorological agency said the earthquake was centered about 50 miles (80 kilometers) off the eastern coast at a depth of about 25 miles (40 kilometers).

As for a tsunami, the government said there isn’t any danger but slight changes to ocean levels could be expected in some areas.
