On Friday, the Thai capital for possible violence anti-government activists prepared to launch what they expect, one of the largest protests in the country in an effort to force Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva new elections.
Called the "Red Shirts" because of his trademark attire, the leaders of the United Front for Democracy against the dictatorship of the jury, maintain their "million man march" nonviolent protest. Protesters plan to start meeting around the country and converge on Friday, the Thai capital on Sunday.
Two people died and over 120 were injured, and buses on the main roads of the group after the last major protest in Bangkok last April on a rampage burning worse. The army was called in the riot raised.
The red shirts are followers of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and others who overthrew the military coup of 2006, which rejected it. They believe in power was illegal Abhisit with the complicity of military and other elements of traditional Thai ruling class that had the popularity of Thaksin's anxiety during his tenure in 2001-2006.
